Corner, Kori, Karu bag top honours in Mapa Sha-2023

IMPHAL, Mar 18 : Corner, Kori and Karu emerged top three best stallions in the Mapa Sha 2023, second edition of horse show organised by the Manipur Pony Society under the aegis of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In the competition participated by 17 stallions of four years and above, Corner of Kh Yaikhomba of Nagamapal Polo Club; Kori of T Thomash of Imphal Riding Club and  Karu of N Ranjan of Imphal Riding Club respectively bagged first, second and third places.
The stallions were assessed by a team of judges comprising Dr A Debendra, Dr Ch Jekendra, Dr S Upendra and Dr Th Debendrakumar.
The prizes of the horse show were sponsored by Mangal Foundation. Thokchom Praveena of Mangal Foundation stated that the foundation was happy to be a part of the event which was initiated by Manipur Pony Society with a clarion call to save Manipuri Ponies.
The idea behind the organisation of the horse show is to prevent early castration of the stallions and to encourage rearing of the breed and ensure quality ponies, said president of Manipur Pony Society, Prof Ch Priyoranjan on the sidelines of the event.
Dr Ng Ibotombi Singh, Director Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur who was also attending the event encouraged the pony owners, polo clubs, Manipuri Pony Society and Mangal Foundation for their role in preserving Manipuri Ponies. He further assured every possible assistance from the Department towards the cause.
