Chingkoibung reeling under acute water shortage

JIRIBAM, Mar 18 : The people of Jiribam district are reeling under acute shortage of water due to inadequate rainfall over the past few months.
Speaking to media persons, a resident of Chingkoibung (Babukhal) village under Hilghat GP, P Singomani Singh shared that the people of Chingkoibung are suffering due to lack of portable water for drinking and other household uses.
"Despite the efforts of the PHE Department, incomplete construction of 3 water reservoirs under Prime Minister Jal Jeevan Mission at Chingkoibung village has added to the woes of the people", said Singomani while adding that construction of the water reservoirs have remained incomplete even after 3 years.
He further appealed to the authorities concerned to complete the construction work of the reservoirs and take up necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the people.
