KANGPOKPI, Mar 18: Terming the declaration of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) appointment results at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) "noto-rious", the All Tribal Stu- dents' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has warned of agitation if the same recruitment results are not nullified at the earliest.
The ATSUM said that the incumbent RIMS authority had on March 3 declared the LDC appointment results in gross violation of the reservation quantum for SC, ST, and OBC as laid down by the Government of India.
Subsequently, on March 4, ATSUM demanded the RIMS authority to nullify the alleged 'notorious' results but the RIMS authority failed to do so.
In the aftermath of the alleged notorious declaration of the LDC appointment results, the student body also reached out to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, New Delhi, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare complaining against the incumbent RIMS authority for gross violation of the reservation quantum for SC, ST and OBC laid down by the Government of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (North East Section) on May 11, 2022.
It demanded that the recently declared result for the appointment of LDC in RIMS be immediately cancelled, an inquiry be initiated against the erring RIMS authority and appropriate action be taken against them in accordance with prevailing laws.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had fixed the reservation quantum of Manipur at 3% for SC, 34% for ST and 13% for OBC . The matter was conveyed to the then RIMS Director for strict adherence by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (North East Section).
In compliance with the Ministry’s letter, the then Deputy Director (Admin) RIMS with the approval of the concerned authority issued an order on May 21, 2022 putting the reservation quantum to be followed in RIMS at 3% for SC, 34% for ST, 13% for OBC and 50% for UR.
The matter was discussed in a joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committee, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and RIMS authority and accordingly necessary rectification in the reservation quantum was issued by RIMS.
However, despite the clear instruction of the concerned Ministry and RIMS' compliance order, RIMS authority manipulated the reservation quantum of SC, ST, and OBC in the recently declared result of LDC, it alleged.
In the event of ATSUM resorting to agitation to seek justice, the incumbent RIMS administration shall be held responsible for any untoward situation arising out of such agitation.
If LDC appointment results are not nullified within a few days time, ATSUM will resort to agitation any time soon, it cautioned.
It also said that appointments and DPC of other staff in RIMS may be put on hold till reservation of ST, SC and OBC is streamlined.
