Protesters storm Court demanding death penalty

BISHNUPUR, Mar 31 : Several women protesters stormed the Court of CJM Bishnupur  demanding death penalty for the accused in the murder case of Ningthoujam Ningol Heisnam (o) Asha (23) on Friday.
The deceased women was allegedly killed by his husband, Heisnam Bigyananda (33) s/o late Joymangol of Thanga Heisnam Leikai and presently staying at Ningthoukhong Mamang Lamyai Taothabi Pat by slitting her throat on March 26.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, Thokchom Shamungou Singh, convenor JAC Against The Killing of Ningthoujam Asha Devi, highlighted the demands of the JAC including death penalty for the accused, formation of necessary measures by the Government and authorities concerned to prevent similar acts in the future and submission of chargesheet within 2 months.
ANUL Bishnupur District advisor, L Nganbi conveyed that the murder of Asha is a challenge and insult to the people of Manipur.
She stated that the accused should be awarded either the death penalty or life imprisonment as punishment for the barbaric act.
ANUL Bishnupur District president, L Pramo also took part in the protest.
It may be mentioned that Heisnam Bigyananda was remanded to 15 days of judicial custody by the Court on Friday.
