COHR Manipur condemns assault on scribes, firemen

Committee On Human Rights (COHR), Manipur condemned the assault on media persons and fire service personnel by central security forces while they were carrying out their duties at New Checkon, Imphal on May 22.
"Journalists are a neutral group, they are even considered as civilians in areas of armed conflict and are protected under the Geneva Convention", said a release issued by COHR Manipur.
COHR Manipur urged the authorities concerned to award befitting punishment to all those security personnel involved in the incident.
COHR Manipur appealed to all the communities to come together and identify the anti-social elements to prevent further violence in the State and bring back peace & normalcy.
