IMPHAL, May 28: The North East People’s Organisation (NEPO) has categorically stated that the  crisis besieging the State at present is not a communal clash but aggression by external forces.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, NEPO secretary general Laishram Ibomcha pointed out that ZRA president Thanglianpau Guite once contested in the MP election of Myanmar from Chin State.
Notably, ZRA is a signatory of the SoO agreement.
ZRA vice-president and general secretary Khenchin too hails from Chin State of Myanmar, he said.
KNA Chairman PS Haokip who is currently taking shelter in Nagaland also hails from Myanmar, Ibomcha said.
He said that KRA president David Hangshing too was born in Myanmar.
He asserted that abrogation of SoO and putting an effective check on the unlawful activities of the Kuki militants can bring a solution to the crisis besieging the State.
A platform should be created for dialogue between the Government and the SoO groups but no outsider  or foreigner should be given any room in the dialogue process, Ibomcha said.
He also urged the Government to take up a rehabilitation and resettlement programme for the displaced people apart from compensating them for their lost properties.
The NEPO secretary general further urged the Central Government and the State Government to update the NRC with respect to Manipur, review land law, enforce the Nation’s laws and Acts effectively, open National Highways and replace Assam Rifles with other CAPF.
