Dr Sunil Sharma named RIMS Director

IMPHAL, May 2 : Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal and he will hold the office for five years or upto the age of superannuation whichever is earlier. 
Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has been advised to assume the office within one month from the issue of the appointment order dated May 1, said an office memorandum issued by Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Dr Pulkesh Kumar.
Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has been holding the post of Director-Professor (Forensic Medicine and Toxicology) at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi since May 15, 2020 and he has more than 21 years post-PG teaching experience.
He has also worked at AIIMS, New Delhi as Junior Resident, Senior  Resident and Senior Research Associate (Pool Officer) from 1998 to  2006 before joining VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital as a Specialist on October 3, 2006.
Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has also  taken part in various NBE & MCI/NMC related works as experts and assessors.
He completed his MBBS from RIMS in 1994 and obtained postgraduate degree (MD) from AIIMS, New Delhi in 2001.
Some of his research works include a study of ligature marks with histopathological findings of neck structures in asphyxial deaths of hanging and strangulation and CSIS project on prevalence of alcohol consumption in cases of fatal and not fatal accidents in South Delhi.
Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has also published 34 papers in various international and National journals.
