Sadam Hanjabam of Ya_All invited to United Nations

Founder of Ya_All, Sadam Hanjabam, attended the 16th session of Conference of State Parties (COSP) on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
In a release, Ya_All informed that the 3-day long event which began on June 13 was held under the theme, "Harmonizing National Policies and Strategies with the CRPD; achievements and challenges."
Sadam was invited for two panel discussions on June 14 and 15 with the support of Transforming Communities for Inclusion (TCI).
He spoke on the new UN guidelines on deinstitutionalization and the intersections of health equity & accessibility of sexual-reproductive-mental health services and disability.
He drew attention to the month-long crisis in Manipur, issues faced by the diverse communities in the State and role of young people in achieving Sustainable Development Goals through an inclusive and intersectional approach.
He also submitted a 9-point Memorandum to the United Nations Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, Jayathma Wickramanayake to intervene in relief and peace building efforts in Manipur.
A similar copy of the memorandum was also submitted to UNICEF, International Disability Alliance, Transforming Communities for Inclusion, UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.
During the visit, he also met Scotland's Deputy Director of UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Diana Dalton and Under Secretary General for Policy, United Nations, Guy Ryder among others.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has appreciated Ya_All: The Youth Network for presenting simple gifts to the members of AMWJU as a part of its relief work.
