THOUBAL, Sep 10: Lilong Youth Committee (LYC) organised the first meritorious award distribution ceremony of Lilong Assembly Constituency at Bright Brain Institute Complex, Lilong Turel Ahanbi today.
The ceremony was graced by Hasina Begum, Adhyaksha, Thoubal as the chief guest; Y Antas Khan, former MLA of Lilong AC as the functional president and Md Zakir Hussain, Mission Director, State Horticulture Department; Md Riyajuddin Khan, Executive Engineer, MSPDCL; social activist Dina Oinam; Md Sultan Habib, founder, Bright Brain Institute Lilong and Abdul Hashim, advisor, LYC as the guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, Bogimayum Noorul Amin, president LYC shared that the Committee was established in 2021.
LYC was formed with the goal of assembling the youth in a bid to bring down the rate of unwanted and socially unacceptable incidents in Lilong AC, according to the LYC president.
Thus, after its creation, LYC's first focus was placed on the education sector as Lilong AC was still lacking in this aspect.
Bogimayum Noorul Amin also appealed to the intellectual community, the senior citizens and all others concerned to help guide LYC in the right path.
Many other notable personalities also took to the stage to deliver their speeches. During these speeches, the speakers highlighted the need for students to know the value of time and the habit of timeliness. They were also advised to stay away from drugs and other narcotic or illicit substances, follow proper etiquette and manners, obey their elders etc.
The students who were honoured with meritorious awards include Md Hanif Phundreimayum, who secured the 8th position in the Class XII examination conducted by COHSEM; Dolaipabam Agnee Hassan, 9th position holder in the Class XII examination as well as the 19th, 22nd and 25th position holders of the Class X examination conducted by BOSEM, namely, Khumanthem Ronel Meitei, Danish Shah and Jupiter Nameirakpam.
Altogether 150 Class X students and 100 Class XII students were felicitated today.
