IMPHAL, Sep 13 : Imphal East district amassed a staggering total of 17 gold, 13 silver and 3 bronze medals to enjoy pole position in the State Level Inter School Swimming and Diving Competition organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and sports.
Imphal West followed way behind with 2 gold, 3 silver and 13 bronze medals in the competition as Tengnoupal won 1 silver and 1 bronze in the competition which began on September 11.
Imphal East's Budhachandra and T Helemba won three gold medals apiece in U-14 boys competitions as Devaraj Ksh won two gold medals in the U-17 boys competitions. Gaitri Thoudam of the same district also secured three gold medals in the U-14 girls competitions.
Budhachandra topped the 50 freestyle competition taking 27.11 seconds before securing the 50 m backstroke with a time of 33.19 seconds and took 1:02.01 to seal the 100 m freestyle gold.
T Helemba in the meantime won the U-14 boys's 50 m breaststroke gold in 37.85 seconds, 200 m breaststroke gold in 3 :08.64 and 100 m breaststroke gold with a time of 1:24.04.
Gaitri in the meantime won the gold medals in the 50 m freestyle taking 31.84 seconds, 50 m backstroke taking 39.42 seconds and 50 butterfly stroke in 36.14 seconds.
Devaraj Ksh in the meantime sealed the 50 m freestyle gold in 27.33 seconds in the U-17 boys competition and 50 m butterfly stroke in 31.03 seconds. H Francis (U-17 boys 50 m freestyle : 33.42 s), L Lanchenba (U-14 boys 50 m butterfly : 28 s), S Panthoi (U-14 girls Breaststroke : 45.04 s), S Khagemba (U-17 boys' 400 m freestyle : 5:27.43), Christina Mangang (U-14 girls 100 m freestyle : 1:28.81) and Th Langamba (U-14 400 m freestyle : 5:21.06) also won gold medals for Imphal East.
