Kom Union Manipur, family members appeal

IMPHAL, Sep 16: Kom Union Manipur (KUM) and family members of Sarto Thong Thong Kom (43 yrs) appealed to all concerned for his safe release on humanitarian grounds.
The family members suspect that he may have been abducted since they are not able to contact him and trace his whereabouts after he was called out from his home by three unidentified persons who came in a white car today and went with them at around 10.15 am.
Sarto Thong Thong Kom is a defence personnel stationed at DSC Leimakhong and is on leave at present.
He is currently residing at Neikanlong in Imphal though he hails from Chandel district.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held today at the residence of Sarto Thong Thong Kom at Neikanlong, KUM president Sarto Ahao Kom informed that the family members are unable to contact him and his whereabouts remain unknown after he went with the three unknown persons today.
Expressing concern on the safety of Sarto Thong Thong Kom amid the prevailing tense situation, the KUM president appealed to all concerned to release him safely.
If he is involved in any wrongdoings, he should be given a chance to redeem the same, he added.
Asserting that Kom community is a peace loving community and have remained as a neutral body in the ongoing communal conflict in the State, he appealed to the warring communities not to raise suspicion on Kom community. Speaking at the occasion, Somiwon Kom, wife of Sarto Thong Thong Kom appealed to all concerned to release him safely on humanitarian grounds if he is being held as a captive.
