SHRI observes World Patient Safety Day

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt. Ltd. (SHRI) on Saturday observed World Patient Safety Day at Shija Auditorium, Imphal, under the theme, "Engaging patients for patient safety" to raise awareness and promote initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety.
It was attended by Dr RK Lenin, Head of Psychiatry Department, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr A Jamuna, Registrar, Manipur Nursing Council; and Dr Palin Khundongbam, Chairman & Managing Director, SHRI as presidium members.
The event was also attended by representatives from various hospitals and organizations across Imphal, said SHRI in a release.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Subodha N, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Safety Officer, SHRI, outlined the objectives of World Patient Safety Day.
Dr A Jamuna stressed the importance of collaboration among communities, healthcare experts, and stakeholders to foster a safer and more patient-centric healthcare environment.
Dr RK Lenin underscored the importance of a holistic approach involving patients, their families, and healthcare providers, encouraging the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
He also discussed the imperative for healthcare providers to minimize avoidable medical errors and emphasized the significance of patient safety awareness.
Dr Jugindra S, Director of Medical Services at SHRI, shared the remarkable journey of SHRI while emphasizing the unwavering dedication to patient safety, exemplified by essential practices such as the surgical safety checklist at SHRI.
Dr Gulliver P, Consultant Nephrologist, SHRI, underscored the importance of collaborative decision-making involving healthcare workers.
Dr Devendra Kh, Consultant General Surgeon; Moirangthem Victory, Nursing Supervisor; Surjikumari Hidam, AGM Quality; and Dr T Gambhir Singh, Head, Community Medicine Department, Shija Academy of Health Sciences also spoke on the occasion.
