IMPHAL, Sep 16: A public assembly held today at Singjamei Akampat has resolved that all poppy plants growing on the soil of Manipur must be uprooted or destroyed completely.
Gun violence and other forms of violence which started from May 3 should be put to an end immediately, says another resolution adopted at the public assembly.
Ensuring uniform rehabilitation package to all displaced people and ensuring free flow of traffic along National Highways through adequate security arrangements were two other resolutions of the assembly.
The sixth resolution said that the ban on mobile internet service should be lifted immediately.
The Central Government and the State Government must enforce the SoO ground rules strictly and attacks on civilians using sophisticated weapons must be declared as acts of terrorism, said the seventh resolution.
The assembly also agreed to forward the same resolutions to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister of Manipur.
Categorically saying that these resolutions should be translated into action within seven days, the public assembly further decided to launch strong agitation against MLAs, Ministers and BJP office-bearers on September 24 if the resolutions could not be translated into action within the stipulated period.
