Locals call for restoration of peace, sanity in Manipur

BISHNUPUR, Sep 18: A sit-in protest was staged today at the market shed of Sendra and Moirang Khunou urging for an amicable solution to end the communal strife in the State which erupted on May 3 last.
Dismayed by the prolonged crisis which had been engulfing the State for more than 4 months, the locals of Thanga staged the protest demanding restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur organised by All Thanga People’s Organisation.
The protestors urged all concerned to provide befitting punishment to the perpetrators of the unprecedented violence creating mayhem in the State impacting thousands of civilians.
They also demanded the unconditional release of the five persons arrested on the charge of possessing illegal arms by a combined team of Imphal East and Imphal West commandos from Kongba Wangkhei Road near Meitei Mayek School on September 16 at the earliest and cautioned of intense agitation if the demand is not actualised.
