BPR/TBL, Sep 18: As a part of the ongoing observation of Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Month, birth anniversary of this visionary leader are being observed across the State with the view to keep alive his ideals and principles.

The 127th Birth Anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat was observed today at Tentha Multiplex hall in Thoubal district on the theme 'Let's protect the unity and integrity of Manipur'.
The observation was jointly organised by CPI Wangjing -Tentha Local Council, Irawat Celebration Committee and Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA), Manipur Unit.
The observance commenced with paying of floral tribute and homage to the life size portrait of Lamyanba Irawat.
The attendees also paid tribute to the martyrs of the communal conflict prevailing in the State.
As a part of the programme, Irawat Ningshing Mana 2023 (Irawat Memorial Award 2023) were conferred to two eminent artists of the State.
The awards were presented to Akham Niladhwaja Khuman, renowned Theatre Playwright and Director acknowledging his significant contributions in the field of theatre and Rajkumari Savitri Devi recognising her sincere efforts for the upliftment of Manipuri Jagoi.
A novel titled 'Adungeigee Thabalei' authored by retired Professor Sanasam Umananda was released at the occasion and Dr M Priyobrata, Imphal College Principal spoke at length of the newly released novel.
The observation was graced by Dr M Nara, former Minister and Irawat Celebration Committee Chairman; Langol Iboyaima of CPI Manipur State Council; L Thoiren, CPI Manipur State Council Secretary; S Sorojini, leader of All Manipur Nupi Marup and Ranjit Adhikarumayum, IPTA Manipur Unit Secretary as the presidium members among others.

The 127th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irawat was observed at Old Palace Compound in Moirang yesterday organised by Irawat Celebration Committee, Moirang branch.
The event commenced with the paying of floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba Irawat.
A. Sharatchandra Sharma, former Principal, Moirang College; K Mohonchandra Singh, Irawat Celebration Committee, Moirang branch president and K Mohendro Singh, Historical Heritage Development Organisation Moirang, Acting President graced as the presidium members of the programme.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Irawat Celebration Committee, Moirang branch, Vice-president K Bimol stressed on the need of following the ideals and foot steps of the eminent leader who strove earnestly for a unified and balanced society.
Amid the prevailing conflict, it is of utmost importance to make cohesive efforts to protect the integrity of Manipur and strive towards the path of development, Bimol said.
