IMPHAL, Sep 19 : Families of 5 arrested village volunteers met with Chief Minister N Biren Singh today, but both sides couldn't reach an agreement.
Amid the 48-hour Manipur bandh called by All Langthabal Kendra Clubs Coordinating Committee demanding the release of the five arrested from Kongba on September 16, a large number of people including representatives of Thawai Meerel Women Wing, local clubs and members of their families had marched towards Chief Minister's Bungalow to meet N Biren Singh. At 7.30 pm near Nupi Lan Complex, police blocked the road and allowed only one member each from the five families to meet the Chief Minister.
The families talked with the Chief Minister for hours but both sides couldn't reach an agreement. Afterwards, the families and people held a public meeting at Langthabal. The meeting was on at the time of filing this report.
