The Manipur Ex-MLA Welfare Association has expressed its deep and profound condolence on the sudden demise of (L) Konthoujam Sarat Singh who was elected from Konthoujam A/C twice on Trinamul Congress ticket.
In a condolence message, the association shared that (L) Konthoujam Sarat Singh was elected as a Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly for the first time in the year 2007 in the by-election of Konthoujam A/C due to the demise of Sapam Budhichandra Singh, Speaker of that time.
He was re-elected from the same constituency in 2012 in the same party from the same constituency.
Konthoujam Sarat Singh passed away on September 3, 2023 following an illness at Bangalore.
"His untimely demise has deeply shocked and saddened all his near and dear ones, especially the people of his constituency. He was a very kind hearted and sincere person both during his teaching days and in his political days", it added.
The association further prayed for his soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Moreover, a condolence meeting was held today at National People's Party (NPP) Manipur office in Naoremthong to mourn the demise of former NPP general secretary and ex-MLA Konthoujam Sarat Singh.
The meeting was attended by NPP National vice president Y Joykumar, Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti Singh, Oinam AC MLA I Nalini Devi, NPP senior leader Y Irabot, NPP working president L Jayantakumar, National Peoples Youth Front president Laitonjam Jayanand and general secretary administration Russel Heisnam among others.
The gathering shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
