IMPHAL, Sep 30: The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation,  Thangmei-band United Club (TUC) and Meira Paibis celebrated the 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at the martyrs memorial site at Thangmeiband Cheirao Ching.
AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang, leaders and members of TUC and local Meira Paibi paid floral tributes to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, Thangal General and all martyrs of the State.
On the occasion, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang said the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot was celebrated to remember his contributions towards Manipuri society and teach the younger generation about the leader.
His works and contributions made Manipur possible. He resigned as an MLA and became a revolutionary who contributed towards the development of Manipur. He faced many struggles in his life and died young, Nando said.
The State which Irabot saved after merger with India has faced many threats designed to dismantle her, Nando asserted.
Today also, the State under India is facing a challenge from the Kuki-Zo who want to break Manipur, he added.
The conflict today designed to break apart Manipur has killed over 100 indigenous people, injured many others and displaced thousands. These are gifts India has given to Manipur for merging with the Union, Nando asserted.
He further commented on the abduction of three Meitei youths by armed Kukis.
"The three youths were abducted together but only one has been rescued. This is clearly a political game," he said.
He said Kangpokpi police and the Assam Rifles ought to do their duties sincerely.
Holding the two youths captive, the armed Kukis have made demands. While their demands are unfounded, the Security Advisor and the Director General of Police have not done their job to safely rescue the youths in time, Nando asserted.
The Security Advisor, the DGP, Assam Rifles and other Central forces must rescue the two youths in time. Otherwise, they will face the wrath of the public, he added.
