IMPHAL, Oct 1: Imphal Heart Institute observed the World Heart Day 2024 under the theme “Use your heart for action” at Sagolband Moirang Leirak on September 29.
Free heart screening camp, signing of MoU between Imphal Heart Institute and Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kolkata and speeches by resource persons were the main highlights of the function.
As a part of the function, a joint team of Imphal Heart Institute (IHI) and Narayana Superspeciality Hospital conducted random blood sugar tests, checked blood pressure and took ECGs and echocardiograms of around 200 people.
Narayana Superspeciality Hospital DGM Soumik Dasgupta and IHI Chairman cum Managing Director Dr Kh Ratankumar also signed an MoU.
Former Head of Psychiatry Department, RIMS RK Lenin presented a paper on the topic “Stress and its relationship with cardiac health”, IHI senior dietician Yumkham Renuka spoke on “Eating right for healthy heart” while IHI GM Santa Sougaijam spoke on “New milestones in cardiac care by IHI”.
During the last few years, IHI has accomplished 400 open heart surgeries, 250 coronary angioplasty and implantation of around 150 pacemakers.
The day was observed all over the world.
