Stage set for MU Inter College Men's Football Tournament quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Oct 28 : The quarterfinal line up of the A Pratap Singh Memorial MU Inter College Men's Football Tournament has been completed today with Kamakhya Pemton College, Regional College, Kakching Khunou College and Mangolnganbi College securing pre-quarterfinal victories today.
The 34-team knock-out tournament is being hosted by Kha Manipur College at its playground under the auspices of the Manipur University Sports Committee.
In the fifth pre-quarterfinal match of the tournament, Kamakhya Pemton College edged out Moirang College by 4-3 goals on penalties after a goalless draw in the regulation time.
Vyas, Vishal, Abungsana and Bunando scored it for Kamakhya Pemton College in the shoot-out as only K Atom, Jahir Khan and Kh Anilkumar found the target for Moirang College.
In the 6th pre-quarterfinal match of the tournament, Regional College thrashed Standard College 3-0 to set up a quarterfinal date with Kamakhya Pemton College.
Sh Rivando opened the scoring for Regional College in the 24th minute before I Indrajit scored a brace (58',70+2') in the second half to seal the 3-0 victory.
In the 7th pre-quarter final clash, Lilong Haoreibi College and Kakching Khunou College were locked at 1-1 till the end of the normal time before Kakching Khunou College emerged 3-2 winners in the shoot-out and won the game 4-3.
Lilong Haoreibi were first to score with Raffiuddin scoring in the 12th minute but E Birendrakumar equalised it for Kakching Khunou College in the 31st minute.
In the shoot-out, Th Roshan, Sh Wilbert and U Cameroon found the target for Kakching Khunou College as Masood and Wajid Khan managed to score for Lilong Haoreibi College.
In the last pre-quarterfinal match, a late own goal gave Mangolnganbi College 2-1 win over YK College.
Mangolnganbi College entered into the break with a narrow 1-0 lead thanks to an added time goal by S Surjit (35+3') but YK College drew level through Dayasagar's 50th minute strike.
When the team looked to end in a draw, Sithal of YK College conceded an own goal during the stoppage time eventually handing the Mangolnganbi College the victory.
Mangolnganbi College will play Kakching Khunou College  in the last quarterfinal match tomorrow.
