IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Preethson picked seven wickets to hand TRAU a huge 91-run victory over RCA for the second Group D win in the 3rd MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament here at THAU ground, Thangmeiband.
Put in to bat first, TRAU were bowled out for 157 runs in 29.1 overs despite initial flourish provided by the openers before Preethson excelled with his pace bowling to shake the RCA line up and cut short the chase at 66 within 11.3 overs.
Mutum Swabhiman (57) and Tyrus Chabungbam (21) gave TRAU a good start by adding 84 runs for the first wicket in 16.2 overs but spin attack from Md Albas Khan and Md Irfan (2/27 in 5 overs) proved effective in reducing TRAU to 122/3 in 21 overs.
Medium Pacer Lucky Ahmed they undone Swabhiman for the fourth wicket in the 24th over and TRAU never recovered after this point as Md Soib Hassan scalped four wickets including two in the 27th over before Lucky Ahmed completed his three wicket haul (3/21 in 5.1 overs) by bowling out Jeetesh Khomdram  in the 30th over.
Soib Hassan returned with the best bowling figures of 4/24 in 6 overs.
Spirited RCA however had to face a nightmarish innings as Preethson Arubam bowled out seven batters in a spell of 6 overs to leave RCA tottering at 51/7 in 9 overs before Mutum Swabiman spun web around the remaining three batters to end the chase in 11.3 overs.
Preethson found the breakthrough in bowling out H Albaz Hussain 8, Md Albas 0 and Md Irfan 0 in the third over. He went on to bamboozle Ph Hanif Ahamed 5 and Syed Sami  Ul 9 in the 5th and the 7th overs to leave RCA struggling at 37/5 and cleaned up Md Soib and H Lucky on ducks in the 9th over.
Swabhiman opened his account by bowling out Farhan Shah on 6 runs in the 10th over before dismissing Kh Kharif Hussain and Mustaqim Ahmed in the second and third deliveries of the 12th over to culminate the chase.
At PTRC Ground, Heisnam Bungo (5/34 in 3.5 overs) and Manao Salam (3/8 in 5 overs) earned YESSDAN, Ningthoukhong a 3-wicket win over SYDO who were bowled out for 118 runs in 16.5 overs.
Md Sohail topscored for SYDO, who opted to bat first, with 46 runs before YESSDAN's Maisnam Anderson 39 and Manao Salam 16 led the chase and sealed their first win in two Group A   matches.
Meanwhile, PTRC cruised to their second Group B win by beating PTCC by 5 runs in a keenly contested match here at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak. Put in to bat first, PTRC posted a target of 167 runs losing 7 wickets in allotted 30 overs on the back of Ngambarel Naoshekpam 33 and Priyojit Thongam 30 before they held PTCC to 161 for 9 wickets despite Somobanta's (64) half century.
Somobanta had earlier returned with the best bowling figures of 3/21 in 6 overs for PTCC but their batting department  had a sloppy innings and fell to 5-run loss.
Henba Paonam who scored 16 runs and picked two wickets for PTRC was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, MPA-Thounaojam opened group C account, after their first game loss, by crushing KCC-Kongba by 173 runs.
Th Chinglensana's prolific batting performance (91 off 99) guided MPA to a commanding total of 192 for 6 in 30 overs and concerted bowling efforts of Chongtham Sitaranjan 3/3 in 4 overs, Elangbam Sanatomba 3/3 in 1 over and Chongthom Priyokumar 2/1 in 0.3 overs forced KCC to succumb for just 19 runs in 9.3 overs.
Th Chinglensana was adjudged man of the match.
