Premjit hits thrice, guides SSU into Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football quarters

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Th Premjit scored thrice in SSU-Singjamei's 8-0 win over NESU in the first pre-quarter match of the ongoing 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial Football Tournament at SAI Sports Complex, Takyel.
SSU came out all guns blazing and raced to a 5-0 lead this afternoon against NESU-Khurai before completing the 8-0 rout.
H Shital opened the floodgate early in the 11th minute before Th Premjit banged home two goals back to back in the 19th and the 34th minute to extend the lead to 3-0.
Despite conceding three goals NESU failed to tighten up their defence and lost further ground as Y Joychandra made it 4-0 after 35 minutes before Suraj Yumnam scored three minutes into the added time of the first half to make it 5-0.
Th Premjit then completed his treble two minutes into the second half before Nepolean Moirangthem (60') and H Khrish (24') took their turns to score a goal apiece and set up the 8-0 win.
SSU will face off against the winners between Classic FA and TYDA, in the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the day, ESU-Wangkhei blanked SFS-Angtha by 3-0 goals to set up a pre-quarter final date with KYVO.
MM Taj Khan (3') gave ESU a slender 1-0 first half lead before Md Muhadish (56') and Takhellambam Bobish (82') scored in the second half to complete the 3-0 thrashing.
Defending champions Classic FA will play TYDA in the next match (pre-quarter final) tomorrow morning from 10 am before DMRAO face LYLL from 1 pm.
