IMPHAL, Feb 10 : Defending champions, Classic FA advanced to the quarter finals with a 3-0 win over TYDA FC in the ongoing Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football Tournament organised by 143 Bn CRPF at SAI Sports Complex, Takyel.
In the second pre-quarter final clash, Classic FA started positively and went ahead courtesy of an own goal conceded by TYDA's Panmei Poujialung in the 14th minute. K Langamba then doubled the advantage ten minutes later before Y Rohit assured the comfortable win with a clinical finish at the stroke of the hour mark.
Classic FA will play SSU in the quarter-finals.
Later in the day, DMRAO romped to a 5-1 win over LYLL FC to confirm their place in the quarter finals.
LYLL FC took the lead after 26 minutes through E Ramjani but A Kinesh pulled level for DMRAO in the 35th minute before Y Simon and P Linthoinganba quickfired successively in the 65th and the 66th minutes to make it 3-1.
A late double from Y Sonam (78', 85') then set up the comfortable win for DMRAO.
DMRAO will play either ESU or KYVA in the quarter finals.
AIM will play NEROCA FC in the next match on February 12 from 10 am before Poloi FA face YSWA from 1 pm.
