Missing village volunteer found murdered

IMPHAL, Feb 11: A village defence volunteer who was missing since February 8 has been found murdered.
Ningthoujam Manisana (32) s/o (L) Jillangamba of Sangaithel Maning Leikai, a village defence volunteer, went missing after Kuki militants launched a fierce attack at Itham Moirang-purel. A massive manhunt was launched after the village defence volunteer was reported missing.
He was found murdered at Itham Moirangpurel Ma-mang Ching this morning.
The dead body of Ning-thoujam Manisana was found today in a gorge of Itham Moirangpurel Ma-mang Ching and brought to JNIMS morgue for post mortem, sources informed.
Local people and family members who gathered at JNIMS morgue stated that they will not claim the mortal remains today but a JAC will be formed in connection with the killing of Ning-thoujam Manisana after hol- ding a public meeting along with CSOs of the State.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was held today at Sangaithel in connection with the murder of Ningthoujam Manisana where a joint action committee christened JAC Against Brutal Murder of Ningthoujam Manisana of Sangaithel at Itham Village, was constituted.
The meeting also adopted five resolutions, the foremost being abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki militant groups.
Arrest of all those people involved in the murder of Ningthoujam Manisana within 48 hours, payment of ex-gratia to the family of the martyred village volunteer and a suitable Government job to the wife of Manisana were some other resolutions adopted at the meeting.
The meeting further resolved not to claim the mortal remains of Manisana until the other resolutions are fulfilled.
It also resolved to launch different modes of agitation in association with CSOs if the Government fails to fulfil the resolutions adopted at the meeting.
The JAC later submitted a memorandum highlighting all these resolutions/demands to Chief Minister N Biren.
