Lemba Sougaijam wins U-15 Open Rapid Chess tourney title

IMPHAL, Feb 11 : Lemba Sougaijam sealed the title of the 22nd Saturday and Sunday Rapid Chess Tournament organised by the Kanglei Chess Academy at Yaiskul Sanakhwaton Kollup, Imphal.
In the 5-round Swiss tournament participated by 34 chess players, Lemba, Dayananda Thoudam, Yaingambam Yumnam and Tomthin finished with the same 5 points. However, Lemba emerged on top thanks to better Buchholz as Dayananda Thoudam, Yaingambam Yumnam and Tomthin were placed second, third and fourth.
Nadia Sougaijam who amassed 4 points and Shilheiba Loitongbam who collected 1.5 points were adjudged best female player and best youngest player respectively. The closing function was attended by N Noren, ex president Singjamei Chess Academy and Umanand, advisor to the Kanglei Chess Academy as presidium members to also handed out prizes to the participants.
