Human Rights Commission seeks status report

IMPHAL, Feb 21 : Considering a complaint alleging that people have been deprived of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKAY) benefits, the MHRC Chairperson Justice UB Saha has issued a notice to the Commissioner and Director CAF & PD to submit a status report after collecting the necessary information from the Fair Price Shop concerned.
According to an order issued by Justice UB Saha and KK Singh, member, MHRC, an instant complaint was filed by one Maisnam Korouhanba Luwang claiming that people of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency have not received PMGKAY benefits since November 2023 from the Fair Price Shop of their locality even though the said scheme was launched to provide benefits to the poor people through PDS system.
The complainant also mentioned that people of other ACs are also not getting the benefit of the PMGKAY scheme through PDS from their respective Fair Price Shops.
The order has specified that the matter will be listed on March 19 for further order.
