Abducted student freed

IMPHAL, Feb 21 : Kongbrailatpam Haridev, a student leader who was abducted in front of Manipur University gate, has been released today.
He was released in Imphal after being in captive for approximately 24 hours in the evening.
Earlier in the day DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS and another student organisation appealed for the release of Haridev during a press briefing held at Kwakeithel.
Speaking to the media, DESAM president Mayeng-bam Somorjit said that a meeting of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) and student leaders was held at Manipur University yesterday and discussed about the situation in Manipur and its effect on the students. Saying that Haridev was abducted from Canchipur after the meeting, he appealed to all concerned to refrain from intimidating student leaders.
