14th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football Tournament gets underway

IMPHAL, Feb 5 : SSU-Singjamei edged out Imphal United Football Club (IUFC) 4-2 as the 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial Football Tournament kicked off at SAI-Sports Complex, Takyel.
The Singjamei side fought from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw with IUFC in the regulation time before emerging 3-1 winners on penalties today to complete the 4-2 win.
K Akash handed IUFC the lead in the 32nd minute before Th Premjit drew level for SSU in the 75th minute.
As the two sides remained unseparated till the end of the regulation time, the winners were decided via penalty shoot-out where in L Hillem, S Amitkumar and Th Premjit found the target for the Singjamei team and only Konsam Akash found the net for IUFC.
