Nagaland to host third North East Olympic Games

IMPHAL, Feb 6 : Nagaland Olympic Association is set to host the third edition of North East Olympic Games in collaboration with the North East Olympic Association and the Department to Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland.
This edition of the games, scheduled to be held from March 18 to 23 in different venues in across three districts of the State, will feature 16 sports disciplines with men's cricket and belt wrestling being the newest additions to the games.
The other disciplines include Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Pencak Silat, Sepaktakraw, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Freestyle Wrestling, Belt Wrestling and Wushu for senior men and women, and football and volleyball for senior men.
Mention may be made that Manipur hosted the first edition of the games back in 2018 before Meghalaya hosted the second edition in 2022 in Shillong. Manipur emerged champions in both the editions while Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been first runners up and second runners up.
The first edition saw more than 2000 athletes compete in 12 disciplines while the Meghalaya edition featured 18 disciplines and around 4000 athletes competed for top honours.
