YPHU, SHADOW triumph in Veteran T-20 Tournament

IMPHAL, Feb 6 : YPHU-Lalambung and SHADOW-Thangmeiband emerged victorious in Group A and D matches of the ongoing 11th Manipur Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament.
YPHU posted a winning 127 for just a wicket down in 12 overs thanks to Boicha's 21-ball 52 and unbeaten stand between Alai 38* and Hemanta 27* after toss winners SNC-Sangaiprou gathered 125/7 at Langthabal Public Ground.
Romeschandra scored a 54-ball 66 for SNC but his effort went in vain as their bowlers failed to deliver.
Gyanranjan (2/23) and Romio (2/28) led the YPHU bowling as Suraj picked the only wicket for SNC.
Boicha who picked a wicket and top-scored in YPHU's second Group A win in three matches, was named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group D match staged later, SHADOW pulled off a 43 run victory against YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai.
Dhaneshwor scored an unbeaten 92 off 57 balls and Nondrenkhomba scored 41 off 28 balls to steer SHADOW to a commanding total of 179 for 3 wickets after they elected to bat first. Avha 2/19 and Dhawan 2/11 then helped SHADOW limit YUCC to 136/6 in the chase despite Somorjit's 44 and Raju's 35.
For YUCC, Tomba claimed two wickets and Manikumar picked one.
Dhaneshor was eventually adjudged man of the match.
