Bishesh Huirem starrer "It's Not My Choice" screened at Rajabhat University, Thailand

The multiple-award-winning 2015 Manipuri short film  It's Not My Choice was screened at Rajabhat University in Thailand on February 3.
The film on gender identity, written and directed by Priyakanta Laishram, features Bishesh Huirem (Miss International Queen India 2016), Ithoi Oinam, Chakpram Idhou and Sophia Sapam.
The screening was part of a queer art exhibition organized by students from the university's Department of Film and Digital Media.
In addition to "It's Not My Choice," seven other queer short films from different parts of the world were also shown.
It's Not My Choice centers on the challenging realities that a young transgender person, Sanathoi (played by Bishesh Huirem), encounters daily and how she ultimately decides to take a stand and confront society.
The film has previously been screened at Mumbai University (2017), Delhi University and Panjab University (2015).
Since its September 1, 2015 Imphal premiere at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal, the film has been screened at over 25 international and Indian film festivals and has won awards in several categories, including Best Film on Social Cause and Special Jury Mention Award at the Highland Independent Film Festival 2015 Shimla, among others.
