IMPHAL, Feb 7 : Khoisnam Barun of SBA sealed the junior boys 80+ kg category gold in the 1st Governor's Cup Boxing Championship being underway at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Kh Barun posted an RSC win over PBA's Naorem Godrej to seal the gold medal as Aheibam Mangal of SRBA-A sealed the junior boys 75 kg category title with an RSC win against SRBA-B's Asem Anand.
Prabin Naorem meanwhile claimed the 66 kg category title with a 5-0 trouncing of PBA's H Bishwamitra as Leimapokpam Binod Kumar of STC-Utlou edged NBA's K Thoungamba 4-3 for the 63 kg crown.
MKBA-A's Chingrihor Shatshang (48 kg), Thoumujam Paikhomba (52 kg) and Moirangthem Punshiba (60 kg) also sealed gold medals in their respective categories as MKBA-A's Mutum Nikison beat Th Rishi of MKBA-A 4-1 for the 50 kg title, AUS's Amom Maipaksana edged ESA's Md Abdul 4-3 for the 54 kg title and NBA's Moirangthem Yaikhom seal and RSC win over ESA's M Lanngamba for the for 57 kg title.
Earlier in the day, SRBA-A swept gold medals in school age girls categories. Ashakiran Ningthoujam of SRBA settled for the silver medal going 3-4 down to Khaidem Manganthoi of STC-Imphal but Singsa W Shimray overwhelmed Mairembam Olbika 5-0, Aheibam Soniya thumped MKBA-A's Naoshimwon Kaping and Naorem Artina sealed an RSC win over NSA's N Lemina for the 50 kg, 52 kg and 57 kg titles.
Meanwhile, SRBA-A and STC-Imphal shared 7 gold medals in 8 weight categories of junior girls competition.
Kiran Chingakham of STC beat M Alina of AUS 4-3 for the 46 kg title as Loitongbam Bidya claimed the 48 kg title with a 4-3 beating of Sneha Thangjam of MKBA-A, Ningthoujam Anjali thumped Gunshalu Khumba 5-2 for the 50 kg title.
NSA's Luwangleima Soram bagged the 52 kg gold with a 4-1 beating of L Luxmi of STC-Imphal as Sharungbam Menaka thumped STC-Imphal's A Malemnganbi 5-0, Yumnam Niha crushed UBA's L Sanajana 5-0, Phairembam Kamala sealed an RSC win over Ch Purnima of SRBA-A and Tekcham Neeha thumped MKBA-A's Nimsolan Khapai Shimray to win gold medals for SBRA-A in the 54, 57, 60 and 63 kg categories.
