IMPHAL, Feb 7 : LCCC-Lilong Chajing emerged Group A toppers and qualified for the quarter finals of the 11th Manipur Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament with the 7-wicket thrashing of YCC-Wangkhei today at Langthabal Public Ground.
YCC, who won the toss and elected to bat first, faced a hard time making strides and were held to 116/6 before LCCC cruised to winning 118 in 11.2 overs with 7 wickets left to spare.
Rabin 49 off 47 balls, Everest 31 off 36 balls and Bishorjit 12 off 9 balls were the only double digit run getters of YCC in their innings as Ashok (2/8) and Jinta (2/21) shared four wickets for LCCC.
In reply, G Sanjit claimed top three batters in quick successions, but Tarun (50) and Sanjit (40) forged an unbeaten partnership of 106 runs for the fourth wicket to guide LCCC past the target.
N Sanjit of LCCC who scored unbeaten 40 and picked a wicket was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier in the day, CYCLONE opened their Group C campaign with a 15-run victory over UCC-Red, Uripok.
CYCLONE elected to bat first and posted a total of 167 runs for 6 wickets courtesy of a half century from Tarun (57 off 42 balls) and held UCC-Red to 152/6 in the chase for the win.
Roben 41 off 31 balls and Robinson 35 off 23 balls also produced fine batting performances to help CYCLONE post a competitive total in an innings which saw Jugalkishore claiming three wickets (3/32 in 4 overs).
Dilip and Biral also claimed a wicket apiece for UCC-Red.
In reply, Kamaljit 43 and Ramesh 42 put in a brave effort but their team ended up scoring 152.
Tarun of CYCLONE, who starred with his bat, picked two wickets to trouble UCC-Red chase and was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Tiken, Lamnganba and Robinson also claimed a wicket apiece for CYCLONE.
