Poloi FC, AIM advance to pre-quarters

IMPHAL, Feb 7 : Poloi FC edged out NFA 3-2 while AIM beat SAIRC on penalties to advance to the pre-quarter finals of the 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial Football Tournament.
In the fourth match of the tournament, Md Nawaz (24', 71') and Chanam Akash (37') scored to earn Poloi FC the victory while Soibam Ayangba (45+2') and Thangjam Ibungo (89') scored for NFA. With the win, Poloi FC have set up pre-quarter final date with YSWA who got a first round bye.
Later in the day, AIM played out a 1-1 regulation time draw with SAIRC as L Mahesh scored the equaliser in the 30th minute after SAIRC had taken the lead courtesy of Bless Vashum's third minute strike.
In the shoot-out AIM emerged 4-3 winners as W Olenjit, Kh Jacky, N Bishal and Kh Raj made no mistake in sending home the ball while only O Romio, Prananda and Hiteshwar K were on target for SAIRC.
AIM will face NEROCA FC in the last 16-stage of the tournament organised by 143 Bn CRPF at SAI Sports Complex.
FCR will play MPSC in the next match tomorrow from 10 am before WAFA face TRAU from 1 pm
