ZUF for free and fair polls

IMPHAL, Mar 23 : As the 18th Lok Sabha elections draw closer, the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has stated that all forms of election campaign related violence, crises or disturbances from any quarter in all Zeliangrong inhabited areas in particular and Naga areas in general should be put to check and strict mechanism of vigilance should be employed to see that the election is conducted in a free and fair manner.
Conveying its greetings and well wishes to intending candidates of the ensuing Parliamentary election, ZUF has stated that no money game or manipulative politics that devalue moral and humane ethics should be entertained this election season.
Addressing the repeated gun fire at election related public meeting of Congress party candidate Alfred K Arthur in Ukhrul district, ZUF maintained that if such antagonizing politics of interference continues, the whole Naga National political vision and struggle will soon get derailed.
It also maintained that all voters should be allowed to exercise his/her free will without influence or intimidation from any quarter.
Further, ZUF questioned the inefficiency or inability of Indian security forces and military operating system while accusing them of easily letting free miscreants and creating public insecurity, posing threats and fear and making society unsafe.
ZUF reiterated its stand to uphold the mandate of the people and strive to exercise extra effort towards making the election peaceful, fair and just. It also appealed to the people to cooperate with the efforts of ZUF towards making a better society with decent elections and choosing the right leaders.
