Jeet Kune Do gold medallists feted

IMPHAL, Apr 12 : CRPF, Group Centre in Lanjing yesterday feted Jeet Kune Do athletes who won gold medals for India at the 9th South Asian Games held from January 29 t0 31 under the aegis of IGP, Manipur and Nagaland Sector CRPF.
As many as 11 athletes from Manipur were part of the Indian team who participated in the games hosted by Nepal in Kathmandu and returned home with gold medals. The gold medallists are Anushree Rajkumari, Ngasekpam Saniya Devi, Naorem Rani Chanu, Lanchenba Nongthombam, Sanabam Thoinao, Teenison Arubam, Yurembam Rohit, Waikhom Ethoi Singh, Samom Kenedy Singh, Laishram Dinesh and Mercy Laishram.
Following their successful stint at the sub-continental event, the athletes have also been selected to represent India at the 2nd World Jeet Kune Do Championship to be hosted by Sri Lanka.
The reception programme held at the Officers' Mess of the Group Centre, Langjing, was graced by IGP of M&N sector, Akhilesh Prasad; PK Nayak, DIG Range Imphal; H Premjeet Meitei, DIG (Ops) M&N Sector; Madan Kumar, DIG, Group Centre CRPF Imphal; O Basanta, DIG (Med); Arjuna Awardee N Kunjarani, Commandant, GC CRPF, Imphal and Kh Tomba, secretary of CRPF EX Welfare Sports Academy  and other members.
The IGP, who feted the athletes with mementoes at the occasion also lauded the performances of the team.
He went on to thank the athletes and members of the CRPF EX Welfare Sports Academy for producing such a diligent team.
