2nd Women's U-19 One Day Trophy begins; THAU, FORCE post convincing wins

IMPHAL, Apr 14 : THAU, Thangmeiband and FORCE, Kshetrigao posted comprehensive wins as the 2nd Women's U-19 One Day Trophy kicked off today under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association.
9-teams clubbed into two groups are in the fray for top honours of the league cum knock-out tournament. Top two teams after the league round will advance into semi-finals.
In the Group A opener staged at Kongba Dhobi Lampak this morning, THAU cruised to an emphatic 262 run victory over SHADOW, Thangmeiband.
THAU opted to bat first and amassed a staggering total of 304 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 35 overs courtesy of a ton from Niruta Thoudam (83-ball 112; 17 fours) and Thoithoibi Ahongshangbam (54 off 58 balls, 6 fours) and 65 extras and bundled out SHADOW for just 42 runs within 18.1 overs as Konjengbam Nonibala (5/6 in 3 overs) and Pungyambam Milky (2/3 in 2 overs) ripped apart SHADOW line up.
For SHADOW, Priyanshee Hanglem (2/32) and RK Valentina (2/50) shared four wickets as Y Joshua and S Mangalleibi picked up a wicket apiece.
Elsewhere at THAU ground, FORCE notched up a 343 run victory over YPHUC, Lalambung as Barkatun Khanam hit an impressive 110-ball 217 and Neha (71 off 52 balls) and Mehanaz (68 off 49 balls) struck half centuries.
FORCE won the toss and piled up a massive total of 435 runs for 3 wickets in 35 overs and held YPHUC to 92/9 in 30.3 overs after Kh Anupama had to retire hurt.
Sadiya Sahani picked three wickets (3/15 in 4.3 overs) and Farjiya (2/8 in 1 over) led the FORCE's bowling attack as Khadija, Wakila Shani, Rahamatun and Barkatun Khanam picked a wicket apiece.
