14th State Junior Basketball C'shipsESU, CYLC reach boys' semis; YOSC overwhelm YASU 34-4 in girls' competition

IMPHAL, Apr 16 : ESU, Wangkhei and CYLC, Chingamathak made it to the boys semis from Group A in the ongoing 14th State Junior Basketball Championships as YOSC, Khurai notched up a 34-4 win over YASU, Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai in the second match of the girls competition.
ESU capped their league campaign at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court with a comfortable 46-20 win over YOSC, Khurai for the fourth straight win and finished group winners.
They had a commanding start and led the first period 22-6 before easing to a 10-4 lead in the second period before the 46-20 finish. Rishikanta led the scoring for ESU with 12 points while Toti (9), James (8) and Krishnacharya (7) followed suit as Stefeno (8) and Tomthin (6) led the scoring for YOSC.
In the other Group A match, CYLC posted their third win in four matches by thrashing Thoubal 58-24 thanks to prolific scoring performances from Lourembam 20 and David 17. For Thoubal, N Abhington 11 and M Naocha 9 were the leading scorers.
 Kokilbon, Moirang also posted a 25-18 win over Chandel in a boys' Group B encounter this morning courtesy of K Doif (14), N Manimatum (4), Ng Bronson (4) and Tesong (3). For Chandel, Sainik (8) and Blesson Pashel (6) led the scoring.
In the lone girls match of the day, YOSC sealed the 34-4 win thanks to L Tutu (19), Kh Khushi (7) and L Tulika (6).
