IMPHAL, Apr 17 : ESU, Wangkhei emerged girls' champions in the 14th State Junior Basketball Championships as  Thoubal and Kokilbon secured their place in the boys quarter finals finishing third in Group A and B competitions.
ESU girls defeated YASU 35-11 today in the ultimate clash today to seal the top honour.
Kh Omega finished with the highest 17 points  as N Katherine and Th Cylvia added 8 points each and H Ketrina picked two points.
Yaiphabi in the meantime secured 6 points for YASU as  S Bejinna picked 5 points.
In a boys' Group A match staged earlier, Thoubal sealed their place in the quarter-finals with a 42-35 win over YOSC, Khurai today courtesy M Naocha (18), Y Obed (13), N Adhington (9) and P Rex (2).
For YOSC, Tomthin (15) and Daniel (12) were the leading scorers.
Thoubal will meet Model Club, who finished Group B runners up in the quarterfinals.
In a Group A match staged this evening, Kokilbon defeated NETA 66-24 to finish Group B second runners up and set up a quarterfinal date with Group A runners up, CYLC.
K Doif topscored for the Moirang team adding 41 points alone as Tesong picked 12 points and Ng Bronson added 7 points. H Sekharjit also picked four points for the team and N Manimatum contributed 2 points.
In the final Group A match staged later in the evening, Youth Club, Uripok defeated YOSC, Khurai 40-32 to end the tournament with a win.
Wilson starred in the match as he gathered 15 points alone while Taibangnganba picked 10 points and Roshan added 6.  Stefeno led the scoring for YOSC in this match with 16 points as Tomthin and Ronal added 9 and 7 points respectively.
The tournament will resume on April 20 with CYLC meeting Kokilbon and Model Club meeting Thoubal in first and second quarter final matches in the morning. Later in the evening, the winners of the second quarter final match will play Group B league winners LMYVA, Lalambung in the first semi-final match before the winners of the second quarterfinal match will play Group A league winners ESU, Wangkhei in the second semi-final match. The final is slated for April 21.
