ST demand

IMPHAL, Apr 22 : As part of their ongoing movement demanding ST status for Meeteis, World Meetei Council Manipur State Unit organised a slogan campaign and awareness programme under the theme 'Meeyam gi Khollao' at Panthoibi Shanglen, Lamjao under Kakching district today.
According to a statement issued by Yambem Arun Meetei, secretary general, CEC, WMC, the campaign was conducted in association with Khungang Semgat Sagatpa Lup (KSSL), Lamjao and Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (LAMPL) to urge the State Government to send the required two reports immediately so that ST status can be given to Meeteis before the implementation of 2026 Delimitation in India.
The campaign was joined by WMC members and the public of the area.
WMC has also appealed the Meetei people in general to come forward and join the movement to support this legitimate demand.
Some of the slogans raised today include "Only ST status can safeguard the Meeteis", "NRC, border fencing cannot save Meeteis", "Delaying ST is denying ST" and "Meeteis will decide their own future", among others.
