IVFA inch closer to 5th Sangai Trophy quarters with 2-1 win

IMPHAL, Apr 22 : IVFA, Singjamei defeated FLAM, Yaiskul by 2-1 goals for the second Group D win in the 5th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship being underway at CYLC ground, Pishum and inched closer to the quarterfinals.
FLAM entered into the break with a slender 1-0 lead with Ng Naobi finding the net in the 4th minute.
The singjamei team however fought back valiantly in the second half and pulled level in the 48th minute through Y Bhimo.
They carried forward the momentum and overturned the lead in the 52nd minute through S Kenedy.
IVFA then held on to their lead to seal their second straight victory.
Earlier in the day, EMVFC, Lamlai registered their first win in two Group D games by beating MUSA, Wangkhei 3-1 courtesy of a double from Y Dhanashyam.
EMVFC had a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 27th minute through Y Dhanashyam but Kh Santajit conceded an own goal two minutes (30+2') into the added time of the first period to squander the lead.
The team however entered into the second half with more purpose and regained the lead through W Shyambabu in the 47th minute before Y Dhanashyam scored his second in the 53rd minute to make it 3-1.
With MUSA unable to make the most of their chances, EMVFC walked home 3-1.
IEVSA, Khongman will play VSAI, Thangmeiband in a Group A match tomorrow from 2 pm before Langthabal FC take on KVFA, Kakching in another Group A match later in the day from 3 pm.
