IMPHAL, Apr 23 : State boys team reached their quarterfinals in the 17th Mini Handball National Championships being hosted by the Maharashtra at Mumbai under the aegis of Handball Federation of India.
Manipur boys got the better of Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand in the group stage (Pool E) matches to confirm their place in the quarterfinals.
In the first match, Manipur defeated Tamil Nadu 36-10 courtesy of goals from Ksh Yaithoiba (9), Kh Jupiter (9), Ksh Arjun (8), Sh Wilson (4), Ksh Jelix (4) and N Robinson (2). Later in the second match, Ksh Yaithoiba (11), Ksh Arjun (9), Kh Jupiter (4) and Ksh Gelix scored to hand Manipur a 25-11 win over Jharkhand and a place in the quarters.
Meanwhile in the girls championship, Manipur notch up three wins in four league stage (Pool C) matches but failed to reach quarterfinals.
Manipur started the league campaign with a 15-16 loss to hosts Maharashtra but bounced back to beat Himachal Pradesh 20-13, YAASHVI-Delhi 30-25 and Karnataka 16-5.
