Kuki militants continue to attack

IMPHAL, Apr 24: Kuki militants continued to attack Sekmai Nongthongband Meitei village and Sekmai Pangaltabi from Luwangsangol and Phaileng village for the second consecutive day today.
Village volunteers and security personnel deployed in the area retaliated resulting in a heavy exchange of fire.
While the gunfight was on at the time of filing this report late in the evening, there were no reports of any casualty on the side of the security personnel and village volunteers. Sources said, a reinforcement team of Imphal West commandos and other security forces have been rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. The situation in the area remains tense and the village volunteers and security personnel are keeping a strict vigil to avert further aggravated attacks from the Kuki militants, said sources.
