More poll bound officials flagged off

UKHRUL, Apr 24 : With the Lok Sabha in Outer Parliamentary Constituency set to commence in less than 48 hours, more polling officials and security personnel have been dispersed to their assigned places in various hill districts which will go to polls on April 26.
The District Election Officer (DEO), Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla also flagged off 58 polling officials for the 2nd phase of 18th Lok Sabha election in respect of Ukhrul and Chingai Assembly constituencies from Bakshi Ground today.
Fr. Joseph M Thohrii, Vice Principal of St Joseph College Ukhrul held a special prayer for the polling officials.
The flag off was delayed for about an hour due to a rainstorm.
Altogether 58 polling officials were dispersed from Bakshi ground which included 32 for 45–Chingai (ST) AC and the 26 for 44 Ukhrul (ST) AC.
The programme was attended by ADM Ukhrul Kajaigai Gangmei, ADM Jassemi P Duna Duo, SDO Dinringam Kamei and SDO/LM & AC to DC A Rohini Kumar among others.
First batch of 43 polling teams of Kamjong district have been sent to their respective polling stations from Hundung ground at Ukhrul.
The lone Assembly Constituency within Kamjong District, namely 43-Phungyar (ST) AC, is one of the 28 Assembly Constituencies that come under the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency. Out of these 28 ACs of Outer Manipur PC, 15 ACs have already completed polling in the first-phase-poll on April 19. The remaining 13 ACs will go on poll on April 26.
43-Phungyar (ST) AC has 78 polling stations of which 5 are critical polling stations while four have been identified as vulnerable. The Constituency has a total number of 34907 voters of which 730 are first-time voters.
Ahead of the dispersal of the polling personnel today, the strong room was opened in the morning in the presence of District Election Officer, AROs, Nodal Officers and representatives of political parties for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs along with the polling teams.
TAMENGLONG : Polling officials for the poll in two Assembly segments in Tamenglong were flagged off from the Mini Secretariat of the district today.
Altogether  75438 voters  (36636 male voters and 38782 female voters) will cast their votes in the two Assembly segments of Tamenglong namely 52-Tamei/Tousem (ST) and 53-Tamenglong (ST) on April 26. Tamenglong district has 36 polling stations which will be manned only by women officials.
Before flagging off the polling officials, the strong room located at  the DC office complex was opened from 8 am onwards for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs in the presence of AROs, nodal officers and representatives of various political parties.
