Stage set for 2nd phase Lok Sabha polls

IMP/TBL, Apr 25 : The stage has been set for the second phase of elections to the Lok Sabha which will be held exclusively for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in Manipur.
The candidates who are contesting for the Outer Manipur seat are Naga People’s Front's (NPF) K Timothy Zimik, Congress’s Alfred K Arthur and two independent candidates Alyson Abonmei and S Kho John.
15 Assembly segments of Outer Manipur PC had already gone to polls on April 19 along with the 32 Assembly segments of Inner Manipur PC.
The polling scheduled tomorrow will be held at 848 polling stations spread across 13 Assembly segments in eight districts of  Outer Manipur PC viz Ukhrul, Kamjong, Teng-noupal, Tamenglong, Noney, Senapati, Jiribam and Pherzawl from 7 am to 4 pm.
The 13 Assembly segments which will go to poll are Jiribam, Tamenglong, Phungyar, Ukhrul, Chingai, Karong, Mao, Tadubi, Ta-mei, Tamenglong, Nungba, Tipaimukh and Thanlon.
The number of voters in these 13 Assembly Constituencies stands at 4,84,949 (239140 male, 245807 female and 2 transgender voters) including 529 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as per a statement issued by the Chief Electoral Office (CEO), Manipur.
2747 PwD and 454 centenarian voters will also exercise their  franchise tomorrow.
Nine polling stations have been set up for IDPs at Ukhrul (4),  Tengnoupal (4) and Jiribam (1).
Interestingly, a special polling station has been set up for only one voter in Tengnoupal.
The CEO said that over 3400 polling personnel have been deployed for phase 2 of the election.
Saying that 87 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have been deployed in addition to 4000 State security personnel at the polling stations, the CEO continued that micro observers have also been deployed at all critical and special polling stations.
The CEO went on to state that the movement of EVMs is being tracked with the help of e-Traccar App which is embedded in the  mobile phones of polling personnel and Sector Officers.
The CEO appealed to all the voters to exercise their franchise.
