AITA Junior TourShafza-Merliah seal U-14 girls doubles title; Nibras in both U-12, U-14 boys singles semis

IMPHAL, Apr 2 : The pair of Shafza Wania and Merliah Warepam were crowned U-14 girls doubles champions in the ongoing AITA Junior Tour hosted by Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) at its Lamphel tennis complex.
Shafza and Merlia won the U-14 girls doubles title with a  1-6, 6-0 (10-7) win over Kristy and Devanshi today.
Earlier the duo reached the final with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mrigashree and Ayushree.
Shafza and Kristi in U-14 girls singles title clash
Shafza Wania will square off against Kristi in the title clash of the U-14 girls singles competition.
Shafza made it to the final with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Merliah Warepam in a semi-final clash while Kristi Haloi pulled off a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Devanshi Tamuli in another semi-final clash.
Nibras in U-12, U-14 boys singles semis; U-14 boys doubles final
Nibras overwhelmed Chingkhei 6-0, 6-0 in an U-14 boys singles quarter final clash to set up a semi-final date with Sudarshan who also eased 6-0, 6-0 past Arnov in another quarterfinal match.
In the other quarterfinal matches of the U-14 boys singles competition, Udiit outlasted Yoimayai 6-1, 6-2 while Yohenba sealed a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 comeback win over Atharv.
Meanwhile in the U-12 boys singles competition, Nibras booked his semi-final ticket with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Udiit. Nibras will play Nawaz, who saw off Yoimayai 6-3, 6-4 in another quarterfinal match, in the semis.
In other quarterfinal matches of the same competition, Aryan outlasted Ranchar 6-0, 6-0 and Atharv prevailed 6-0, 6-1 over Chingkhei.
Nibras also went on to reach the U-14 boys doubles final with  Aryan as they carved out a 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 win over Yohenba and Sudarshan.
They will face Ranchar and Arthav, who defeated Chingkhei and Yoimayai 6-4, 6-3 in another semi-final match, in the title clash.
