45th State Level Sub-Junior Handball Tourneys YLK edge past IMC 22-21 in sub-junior boys' tournament, both qualify for semis

IMPHAL, April 7 : Hosts YLK, Chingarel Tejpur edged past IMC, Thoubal 22-21 in a keenly contested Group B match of the 45th State Level Sub-Junior Boys Handball Tournament.
It was the second straight victory for the hosts and eventually qualified for the semis as group winners. Despite the result, IMC-Thoubal, who had won their first league match against SSC, Khurai, also qualified for the semis.
N Adison and S Kaiku netted 9 goals apiece to inspire YLK the narrow win as N Bishal scored 10 goals for the Thoubal side and L Surjakanta and Veeraj scored three goals each.
Earlier in the day, OYO-Kongpal inched closer to the semis with a 18-7 win over KVWA, Mayang Imphal in a Group A encounter. Ksh Yaitomba (7), Ksh Alvish (4) and Ksh Premchandra (3) were the leading scorers for the winning team as Ch Roshan (3) and N Thoibi (2) led the scoring for the Mayang Imphal team.
In another Group A match, CYDOL, Lilong showed ESU, Wangkhei exit path with a 23-20 beating. N Anish starred with a haul of 17 goals for the winning side as Risikesh and Jensing added two goals apiece. For ESU, Yoihenba grabbed 14 goals and Raju added 4 goals.
YLK win big in Sub-Junior Girls tourney opener
YLK girls also kicked off their campaign with a commanding 15-2 win over SSC, Khurai today. L Monika (5) and Bijaya (4) were the leading team scorers for the winning side while N Velentia scored both the goals for the losing team.
N Pitalika, N Leviya and N Selina also added two goals each for the winning team.
