IMPHAL, May 18 : CRAU, Khamnam Bazar pulled off a commanding 105-run victory against YPHUC, Lalambung   Makhong in a rain-curtailed Group D encounter of the 1st MNCA Men's U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament 2023-24.
CRAU added a commanding total of 272 runs for 5 wickets in 28.1 overs before the target was revised to 199 runs in 19 overs via VJD method. In reply, YPHU could amass only 93 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 19 overs to hand CRAU a huge 105 run victory.
Ph Jodash starred with a quickfire 81 off 32 balls for CRAU as he smacked 8 fours and 6 sixes. Lamabam Jodash 72 off 54 balls (9 fours and 2 sixes) and Sanatomba K 63 not out off 69 balls (9 fours) also hit half centuries to inspire CRAU a huge total of 272 runs in an innings that also saw YPHUC bowlers conceding 46 extras.
Irom Ishor (2/69 in 8 overs) and Irom Sunny (2/30 in 4.1 overs) picked two wickets apiece for YPHU as Krishnakanta Ngangkham claimed one.
In response, YPHUC had a stuttering start and and ended up gathering 93 runs for 9 wickets as they never recovered after the departure of top order batters- Birbal Irom (20), Bishworaj Sharma (19), Irom Sunny (13) and Anderson Keithellakpam (10).
CRAU's Bm Sabakhan (3/5 in 4 overs), Kh Lohitsun (2/14 in 3 overs) and Dinu Sarangthem (2/11 in 4 overs) were at the forefront of the bowling attack sharing 7 wickets among them while Lamabam Jotin (1/25) and Thongam Joychandra (1/11) picked a wicket apiece.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal, IBSA, Yumnam Leikai and AKSDO, Khangabok shared a point apiece after rain interrupted and forced the abandonment of the game.
IBSA were struggling at 43/3 in 11.2 overs after they were put in to bat first before rain played spoilsport.
