Alleged pimp shot on leg

IMPHAL, May 18: One transgender who allegedly works as a pimp has been shot on the leg by the Koireng-led UNLF.
The injured transgender has been identified as Kumarjit Laishram (32) s/o Sarat of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai.
Kumarjit was paraded before media persons at a location in Bishnupur district last night.
Briefing media persons there, Koireng-led UNLF’s spokesman Pibarel Angomcha said that the outfit has been working for the people of Manipur, specially the womenfolk since its establishment.
Whereas the outfit has been giving a prominent place of respect to all women, some persons have been treating women as commodities of trade.
This is rather unfortunate and the outfit has taken serious note of such immoral and illicit activities, Pibarel said.
“We pulled up Kumarjit for working as a high class pimp. He will be punished for sure for he has committed a grave offence”, Pibarel said.
Kumarjit too confessed his illicit activities.
Later at around 8.30 am today, Kumarjit was found shot on the left calf by some unknown persons suspected to be cadres of the Koireng-led UNLF near Khumbong PHC, Imphal West district under Patsoi police station.
He is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.
