IMPHAL, May 20 : Protesting against unmanageable monetary demands by unknown persons, shopkeepers at Thangal Keithel, Paona Keithel, Bir Tikendrajit Road and Dharamshala downed their shutters in a 24-hour total shutdown from May 19 midnight.
The shutdown disrupted the lives of the public, with trade activities being the most affected.
Major portions of Thangal and Paona Keithel bore a deserted look and even pharmacies remained closed.
However, Imphal Khwairamband Keithel was open for business today. In addition, some street vendors were also seen selling their wares including clothes and vegetables along the roadside at Thangal and Paona Keithel.
It may be noted that the bazar shop owners community had imposed a 24 hour bazar bandh from midnight of Sunday.
